Villa Del Rio Bed and Breakfast

Villa Del Rio Bed and Breakfast – 123 Hudson Drive, Del Rio, Texas 78840. 1-800-995-1887.

Among the oldest mansions in Southwest Texas, this handsome hacienda, which was built in 1887, is 4,600 square feet of West Texas comfort.  Del Rio, Texas, became a West Texas “Boom” town after 1883, when the silver spike was driven where they railroad joined just west of town.  The Villa del Rio creates an ambiance that hearkens back to those days of grandeur on the Old Mexico border. The private bath in the upstairs Peacock Suite was the first in this entire region of Texas.

Del Rio is an ideal stop-over point for those continuing on to Old Mexico, the big Bend region, Fort Davis and the McDonald Observatory, Seminole Canyon, Alamo Village, Amistead National Recreation Area and Val Verde Winery (in Del Rio) to name jut a few nearby attractions.  Named as “One of the great escapes of Texas” by Texas Monthly  Magazine, and noted in the New York TimesTexas Highways Magazine said of the inn “the enchanting Villa Del Rio B&B embodies Del Rio’s oasis-in-the-dessert spirit.”  Villa del Rio features three large guest rooms and a cottage situated on the back half acre, up against the vineyard.  The cottage reflects the Mexican heritage of the area with Mission-style furnishings and wood floors. Each room features a different décor built around pleasing color schemes with period furnishings and luxurious linens.  See website for rates and reservation information. www.villadelrio.com
